What was Rutherford’s Gold Foil Experiment?
Rutherford’s Gold Foil Experiment (1911) involved firing alpha particles at a thin gold foil. Most passed through, but some were deflected at large angles, leading Rutherford to conclude that atoms have a small, dense, positively charged nucleus at their center, overturning the plum pudding model.
