In December 2017, an intermediary from Uganda presented us with gold nuggets that were later discovered to be counterfeit. While the intermediary might have been acting in good faith and unaware of the gold’s authenticity, it is the responsibility of every gold dealer to thoroughly vet their clients. Such intermediaries can severely disrupt business operations and should face legal repercussions.
